mTatt is Born!
From Idea to Incorporation
After winning the “Pitch Your Startup Idea” competition, PhD student Samuel Babity and his supervisor, Prof. Davide Brambilla, took the next step and officially incorporated mTatt as a startup. What began as an academic research project is now moving forward as a company with a clear vision for clinical and commercial impact.A New Kind of Biosensor
At the core of mTatt’s innovation is its microneedle tattoo biosensing technology. Unlike traditional monitoring devices that require repeated blood draws or bulky equipment, mTatt’s approach involves tiny, painless patches that deliver fluorescent “microtattoos” just beneath the skin. These tattoos act as sensors, providing continuous and non-invasive tracking of key biomarkers. With a built-in reference signal for accuracy, the system offers a reliable readout that can be interpreted using a simple external reader device. Why We Decided to Launch
The decision to launch mTatt was fueled by the promising outcomes of early research studies. Experiments showed that the technology could successfully track relevant biomarkers, reinforcing its potential to address unmet clinical needs. The implications were clear: a platform that could fundamentally change how patients, clinicians, and everyday people monitor health over time. Beyond the scientific novelty, there was also a strong commercial opportunity—with applications spanning heart failure monitoring, fertility and hormonal health, athletic performance, and more. About mTatt: mTatt is a health technology startup developing an innovative microneedle patch for continuous, non-invasive monitoring of biomarkers such as hormones, NT-proBNP, cholesterol, and more. Its technology aims to enable real-time health insights, supporting earlier detection, personalized treatment, and improved patient outcomes.
Disclaimer: The mTatt patch is currently under development, has not been approved by regulatory authorities, and is not yet available for sale in any geography.
